Freedom Of Speech has Changed!

Freedom Of Speech Has Changed! In the USA, we are blessed with the freedom to speak our minds and our thoughts. In many countries, speech is limited and is overseen by the government. Many countries do not have the Liberties of our freedom of the press. When our forefathers wrote the Bill Of Rights, they wanted the people to be able to know what their rights were. The rights all were entitled to. This gave power to the people to change governments and other things in our country that were displeasing to them and needed to be changed. Freedom of speech brought truth and power to our world, by the people voicing their opinions. It seems to me that today freedom of speech means something totally different. It’s no longer based on the issues that are facing our country, but more on the background of people who are running for offices in our Government. Lately, all I hear on television, radio, podcast, are defamatory comments about the person. Comments that are so bad that it makes a person not want to select that candidate, which is the true intention of those who are speaking these comments. We to become judges of that person when we truly know nothing about them, except what we have been told. We hear about all the things they say their families have done, their waste of finances, their children. nothing is off-limits. I think we need to stop and think about what freedom of speech was made for, and why it was put in the “Bill of Rights. It wasn’t to tear down a person’s background, family, or self-image, but to foster change in our country to make it a better place to live. Tearing down a person’s image can only foster hate, chaos, and confusion, as we have seen too much of that lately. Let’s value our freedom of speech, but never to the point of defaming others in the eyes of a watching world. We wouldn’t like it either if those things were said about us, and others didn’t really know who we really were, but judged us by the words of others. We need to stick to the issues we’re fighting for, watch our language, and leave their families out of it!
