Cover Designing

Working on designing more covers advertising my next book, "A Journey Of Faith" coming sometime in 2021 to Amazon & Kindle. This is the second cover I came up with. Designing is something any author can do if one sets their mind to it.

Romance 4 You / Always & Forever"

Well, I promised you 3 stories, well here's the third one. Hope you like it. "Always & Forever" Always and forever, those were the words Katie had heard Michael say to Amelia the day of their wedding. He had promised to love her forever. She remembered looking at them. They were so in love and so happy then. As she stood at the window, and looked out over the rolling hills of his Vermont estate, she remembered how good it was to see him after eight years. She was stranded on the highway totally out of gas. She had always been an impetuous teenager, a free spirit, following her own wants and desires, never stopping to consider the results of her actions. That faithful night was no different. She had promised her father that she would fill the gas tank before she went to Carrie's house, but as usual she didn't keep that promise. Carrie's house was only twenty miles away...she could make it, she convinced herselfeven when she heard the engine sputter, then stop. She got out and . She just couldn't believe her father hadn't put gas in the tank for her. She thought he was kidding when he said he wasn't going to do it...that it was her responsibility to fill the tank for her own car now. She was out of college and a working woman now. She stood there furious with her father, but in her heart she knew he was right. She grabbed her cell phone and called home, but there was no answer. Carrie's parents had made electorate arrangements for her and Carrie...everyone was going to be there. Carrie was leaving for New York tomorrow to start her new job as a buyer for one of there major department stores...and she would be leaving in a few days also for her new job with Jacob & Jacob Law Firm in Dallas Texas. She had worked hard for her law degree. “Ah!,” she remembered now her father was out of town on business and wouldn't return until later that evening. And her mother was at a local fundraiser in Houston. She stomped her foot in a childish manner... “The one time I really need them their not home.” Well next week she would be on her own, she said consoling herself. Dallas would put a distance between her and her parents, and she wouldn't have to listen to all their rules and regulations. She would be in her own furnished apartment provided by the law firm and with a car to boot. She wouldn't have to worry about putting gas in it either...it would be a company car all filled with gas. She smiled happily to herself...”Just one more week.” Her smile faded quickly...but one more week wouldn't help her now. She looked down at the small cruiser her parents had gotten her as a gift. It couldn't take much gas it was so small. How much gas did it take anyway. She scratched her head...it was shameful that she didn't even know how much gas her car took. Her father had always kept it full for her. Why couldn't they have gotten her the Cadillac like she'd wanted, she thought as she leaned against the car as she looked down the road. She was definitely stranded. She got in and put the car in neutral, and pushed it off to the side of the road. It was starting to get dark and that thought frightened her a bit, She was dressed in a tight pink knit pencil dress, and stiletto heels. It was hard enough for the boys at the university to resist her...she could image how her beauty would affect a stranger. When she saw approaching headlights, she felt both comfort and fear. What if this car had some deranged person behind the wheel. What would she do? She positioned her keys between her fingers the way they had taught her to do in self defense class at the university. If nothing elseshe would poke his eyes out....she would not be an easy mark...she'd go down fighting! The headlights of a green army looking jeep got closer until the car pulled up behind her and stopped. Her heart was beating so loudly, she was sure the whole would could hear it, as a tall figure slowly emerged from behind the wheel, and exited the door. He was in full military attire...a Marine, .and very familiar. Michael, she said, is it really you? It had been eight years since they graduated from high school and he decided to attend Seminary at Oral Roberts University. It was a real shock when he had always been the life of the party, and her best bud. But now he had found God . She recalled what her response was when he told her..... " I didn't know he was lost." But now there he stood only inches away from her. She ran to him relieved that it was him and not some deranged stranger. " It's really me small fry, he said smiling at her." She had always hated that nickname she preferred Katie, what her mom and dad called her instead of Kathleen. But it was what he had called her since grade school, because she was shorter than he was. " What are you doing here, she questioned. I heard you had been in Iraq for two years after that I lost track of what you were doing." She looked up into his huge brown eyes, the same eyes that had refused her to love years ago. " Well I guess you could say I'm here to rescue a damsel in distress. Let's see, he winked at her....... by chance you wouldn't be out of gas, would you ?" She felt her cheeks flush a bit " How did you know? He emerged with a gas tank from the trunk of his car. " Your dad said that might be the case when Amelia and I stopped by earlier today." " yes he tighten the top of the can. There, she's all filled up now." He looked directly at her yes, Amelia my wife." Katie didn't know what to say she had no right to expect someone as handsome as him to stay single forever. " How wonderful,” she managed to mumble although she really wanted to cry. Michael had been her true love and soul mate since grade school and he never even knew it. Every man that she dated or was instant and never held a candle to him. He accepted her as she was fault at all. It really hurt her when she confessed her feelings to him at graduation and he was ejected her. He said she needed to grow up and stop being so selfcentered and selfish. And think about others for once in her life. He looked at her a long moment, " This should take you to Carrie's house and back," he said finally bringing her back to the present. " Amelia and I are staying at my folks I hope you will drop by I'd really like you to meet her." All Katy could do was nod as she watched him get back into his Jeep and drive away. " What put a damper on your spirits, Carrie ask. This is supposed to be our night. But you almost missed everything." Katie looked at her. Guess who I saw today?" " Who?" Katie had peaked Carries interest. " Michael Brooks," he was the man who helped me on the highway today when my car ran out of gas. " Michael, best of the dressed Michael?" Katie laughed, she hadn't heard him called that since high school. That name was tacked on to him because he always dressed as if he were going to church. " Yes..... that Michael, she answered, and guess what, he's married and he invited me to meet his wife Amelia." " Oh. That surprised she must be a real Beauty to catch someone like him. Katie had a quick look at her friend. Carrie had always known her feelings for Michael although Katie never acted as if she had any interest in him at all when she was around her friends. " You're not really going to meet her....I mean." I know what you mean Katie reply but if I don't meet him and his wife here wondering why." " Carrie looked at your friend, " you still love the guy after all these years don't you Katie?" With all her gifts packed into the cruiser Katie drove home. This wasn't a decision she needed to make it immediately. She would meet Michael s wife eventually it just didn't have to be today or tomorrow. Her parents were still up and in the sun room when she entered. " Have a good time dear your mother asked?" " it was okay she replied sitting down on the sofa next to her mother I got lots of gifts. I'll unpack them in the morning." " There's something we need to talk to you about, your father-in-law his newspaper it's about Michael." Katie looked over at her father. "What is it?" She looked strange and her father, waiting to hear what was he had to tell her. " Micheal's married," her father said bluntly. " I know he's married dad he told me that you sent him to help me on the highway and I'm sorry that I didn't fill the gas tank it'll never happen again I promise." " that's not it he said looking at Katie said Lee Michael s wife she's......" " She's what Dad she's what" He's her father sat back down in his chair again did he by any chance mention to you that his wife Amelia is dying?" Katie collapse back onto the sofa "no.. no he just said he wanted me to meet her." "And meet her you shall,l they're coming to dinner tomorrow and I want you to be on your best behavior. He looks sternly at her we know you still have feelings for him but he has a wife now, and you're not a teenager anymore. “We expect you to behave as an adult." Katie didn't answer. And as she walked up the stairs to her room she wondered about Amelia, she had to be very special for Michael to love her and she couldn't help but feel jealous and betrayed. Michael have always seen her only as a friend. All the boys in school wanted to be with her, she was the homecoming queen, student council president and class president. But none of them seem to matter to Michael she just couldn't win his heart no matter how hard she tried. It was so humiliating prom night when she kissed him and confessed your feelings for him and discovered that he didn't feel the same. She undressed, climb into bed and pull the covers over her head. Tomorrow would be an absolutely unbearable day seeing Michael with another woman when she always hoped it would be her that would be his wife. She spent hours looking for the most stunning dress she could find to wear for dinner the next evening. She wanted Michael to see her beauty and to regret not using her as his wife. She decided on high heels and a tight-fitting red velvet jacket dress that fit her just right and complemented her long-stately figure and red hair. " Let's see him resist me now, she said twirling around in her bedroom mirror he'll see what he missed." \ She stayed in her room until she heard the doorbell ring knowing her parents would disapprove of her attire. But it didn't stop there disapproving look when she came down the stairs. Her mother's eyes lowered to the floor while her father shook his head and opened his approval. Katie didn't see Michael until she reached the bottom of the stairs. It was then that I saw Amelia standing close beside him. Katie felt her breath catch in her throat it was like taking a step back in time to the days when women wore long dresses that look Victorian. She was dressed in a long plain brown dress with the Petticoat Peeking from beneath and wore black granny lace-up boots. Her hair was in a bun fixed neatly at the back of her head. She looks so pale as a brown eyes met Katie's. " Gosh, Michael was right, you really are beautiful. She extended her hand to Katy I'm Amelia." Katie force that smile, "thank you." She wanted to run and hide. Micheal's he knew her so well, and as they all walked into the dining room for dinner she knew Michael was aware of what she was trying to do and it made her feel ashamed. She picked at her food as she listened to Emilia tell of her work as an Army Nurse and how she met Michael in a Iraq where he was serving as chaplain to the Troops. Katie noticed Micheal's eyes would light up as he looked at his wife it was obvious that he loved her. They had been married for four years and Michael was now coming home to accept an assistant pastor ship at a local church. " How wonderful her mother replied looking directly at Katie isn't it dear?" " yes, Katie reply, wonderful." She could feel everyone looking in her Direction so you'll be living here in Laredo Texas, Katie forced a smile at Amelia... have you found a place to stay yet?" Amelia smiled warmly. Will be living with Micheal's mom and dad just for a little while it'll be easier I'll be in therapy a lot these next few months more tests. She looked intently at Katie I have leukemia the doctor said maybe I have a year. It will be easier for Michael if he's close to home when the time does come." " Amelia, Michael reached over and squeezed her hand ,no one knows that but the good Lord himself." I know dear, Amelia smiled back at him. I know." Katie was glad to be in Dallas at the week's end. Her goodbyes to her parents had been more emotional than she had expected, and thoughts of Amelia still haunted her. Jacob and Jacob was a top-notch law firm excelling in every area including real estate. They owned businesses, apartments, and condos, as well as being one of the wealthiest families in Dallas Texas. They not only provided each client with the best defense possible, but treated their legal staff as family. Her Client List was small, and she expected, being the new kid on the Block, but she did well. Her apartment was absolutely beautiful. From her balcony she could see most of Dallas. Make sure it was provided, as well as meals three times a day, and laundry service to. Her every need had been anticipated right down to the red convertible quick with the Sun Group she was glad she didn't have to bring the cruiser with her she now had a company car that was always filled with gas this was alive she always wanted. Why then wasn't she happy? Ad she closed your eyes at Days Inn it was Amelia's face she always saw. Her sucking cheeks, pale face, and those hunting big brown eyes. But it was her smile that haunted her the most she actually seemed happy. How could she be. Katie poured herself into her work. She loved the firm but at times I felt her talents were being misused. Serving as a defense attorney wasn't really her cup of tea corporate law was really wish you wanted to be but it was the job benefits that had drawn her to the firm in the first place. She took a deep breath and she entered the boardroom for all the legal staff met each morning for prayer. John Jacobs was a devoted Christian, I give God all the credit for his success. It was all she could do to stay awake as you prayed which was usually long but this time she felt a stirring in her inside that she couldn't explain and tears roll down her cheeks that she couldn't control. . It was then that he invited her to lunch and told her about his love for Jesus. Katie had only met one other person with such excitement about serving the lord and that was Michael. Mark asked her if she wanted to know him too and then only minutes Katie found yourself asking Jesus into her heart. She wasn't sure what it all meant but Mark said God would reveal himself to her and his own special way. She started reading the Good News Bible he had given her... She felt like she was a starving child who couldn't get enough to eat. But her greatest discovery was the fact that God loved her, just the way she was, faults and all. Even when she didn't accept his son. That truth transformed her. A transformation not only noticed at work but by her parents too when they dropped by one weekend. " I want to apologize she said hugging them both. I have been such a spoiled selfish brat. How could you put up with me all those years? She saw a smile across both their faces. " Because you love me,that's how." she had answered your own question. " And we always will. Her mother replied. That weekend was the best she ever spent with her parents. It was hard to see them leave, but Loretta Wasn't So Far Away that she couldn't go home often. She finally knew what real love was, it was a giving of yourself for others, as Jesus gave himself for her. She didn't know if she would ever find a man who would always love her forever as Michael love Amelia, but she didn't know a man that loved her enough to die for her and his love was the always and forever kind of love. She wish Michael was there so she could tell him to how sorry she was for all the selfish things she had done but her parents had told her that Michael had accepted a calling to Pastor in Vermont and he and Amelia had moved there two months ago. Katie couldn't bring herself to inquire about Amelia's health, although it was uppermost in her mind when her parents were there. The months pass quickly. Well turned into winter and soon Spring Florida peeking through the warm up, yet still Amelia stayed on her mind. She was looking from her office window when the intercom buzzed. There was someone there to see her. It was a woman or secretary said. Katie turn back to the window it was a good day to go jogging the weather was getting warmer. She would go after her weekly volunteer at the woman's shelter. “ I hope I'm not taking too much of your time," the timid voice up behind her. Katie turned, meeting the smile and huge brown eyes that has haunted her for months...it was Amelia! " No, Katie managed to gulp, please sit down." Katie could see that Amelia was thinner than the last time she saw her. A silence fell between them. Katie didn't know what to say. Amelia seemed to sense that. "We're here in Dallas for a Pastors conference she said looking directly at him Katie. Your parents told me you were working here in Dallas for Jacob and Jacob, so I thought it would be a good time for us to have a talk. Michael will be speaking at the conference, so here I am." She smiled at Katie and Katie smile back" How long will you be here in Dallas Katy asked. " Will be leaving today right after Michael Speaks, we've been here for 3 days." " Oh, Katie said softly, remembering their last meeting at her folks home. She definitely understood why they might not want to inform her of their coming. " Amelia, I want to apologize." Katie walked around and knelt in front of Amelia and gently took her fragile hands in hers. " I'm not that person anymore I mean......" " We know, your folks told us all about it. It's wonderful having another sister in the Lord." Katie saw the tears running down her cheeks. " I'm so ashamed of my actions back then I......" Amelia hugged her. " Love makes us do foolish things sometimes doesn't it. She brushed the tears from Katie's cheeks. That's why I'm here. I want you to promise me something." She looked intently into Katie's eyes. Katy look back at her. " Anything." Whatever it was she would do it. Her heart ached for Amelia as she knelt there holding her hands. She waited as a million took a deep breath. " I want you to promise me that you'll be there for Michael when the time comes, that you take care of him. Her voice became Silent as she took one long last look at Katie. "I want you to promise me that you will not stop loving Michael, that you'll be there for him...and you'll become his wife after an appropriate waiting time." Katie dropped Amelia's hands and stood up quickly. " How can I promise that, I...." Amelia walk closer to Katie. " I know you love him you always have. She squeezed Katie's hand, I've known it from the first time I saw you come down those stairs and look at him. Promise me just to be there. God will do the rest. She gave Katie's had another squeeze. Katie watched her as she walked out the door it was the last time she ever saw Emilia again. Standing there now and Michael and Amelia Vermont home nine months later helping Micheal's parents after funeral was oddly soothing to her. She knew she would see Amelia again. Death wasn't he end only the beginning. Looking around she could see Amelia's touch on everything from the drapes on the windows to the rugs on the floor it was all so Victorian....... so her. She watch Michael talking to the people from his church she'd always known him to be strong but to preach his Wife funeral,l that took real strength. She didn't know if Michael would ever be in her life as Amelia wanted but he belong to God and so did she, and that was more important than her fleshly desire. She wanted the best for him, even if it meant he would one day be with someone else other than her as Amelia wanted. She returned the smile that he flashed at her as he approached. " Thanks for coming Katie, he said taking her hand in his it's good to see you again." " Good to see you too, she lowered her eyes momentarily, then looked up at him again I'm really sorry about Amelia." " I believe you really are." " I really am," she reply. They stood looking at each other she see the sadness on his face and in his eyes. " I think that's the first time you ever called me Katie." Micheal's hand closed tightly around hers. " I think you're right," he smiled and then walked away. This was a sad time for Michael and she didn't want to read anything more into the moment. It was just a squeeze of her hand, may be a sign, she didn't know but in her heart she couldn't help but feel that Amelia was watching . A year had passed since Amelia's death. And Katie moved back to Laredo after her fathers heart attack to be with her mother. It was good to be with them ...to help and be close. Jacob and Jacob were really sympathetic to her decision to return home and even helped her connect with a law firm in Laredo. She worked five days a week, then in the evening spent her hours helping her mother with her father ...cooking, cleaning, doing laundry and praying together. It was all so unexpected when he died. He had been recovering. Playing golf, and taking his med's as directed...but now he was gone and her mother was alone...something she wasn't use to at all. Katie was sad but happy that it all happened so fast...one day he was there then suddenly he wasn't anymore. At least her didn't suffer. Now her mother had decided to travel a bit...She wanted to go with her but being new on the job, she couldn't.. She had helped her arrange an around the world tour after the funeral. She never realized before how many people loved and respected he father, until she sat there and watched the dozens that filed into the church for his funeral. Her mother being a Christian too knew that they were parted in death but united in Christ, and that she would see her father again. She smiled as she watched her mother shake hands with people and exchange prayers with those who needed it...Katie moved around the crowd thanking those who had come. Suddenly she saw a familiar face walking towards her. It was Michael. The last time she'd seen him was at his wife Amelia's funeral. Now here he was at her fathers funeral. She felt the tears sting her eyes as he approached. He didn't speak, just reached over and took her in his arms, as her tears flowed. “I'm here for you Katie, he whispered as his lips kissed her cheek gently. I'll always be here for you Katie..always and forever.” And as her arms went around his neck, and she held on tight.... she knew he would be.......Always & forever ! She wasn't sure where it all would lead, but it was a moment she'd waited for. A moment like this! The End...or is it the beginning? https://youtu.be/3PlLE9gIjug

Romantic Story 4 You Today/Solomon's Bride

I really loved writing this story about hurt, love, and forgiveness. I hope you will enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it! Solomon’s Bride Solomon Davis hugged his manager for the last time. He had made a promise to his wife right before she passed away that tonight would be his last fight whether he won or lost. But God had been good to him and he won with a knockout in the third round. He wiped a tear away, that rolled down his cheek. He now had enough stashed away to never have to box again. His wife was sure he would win even though he wasn’t that sure himself. He never should have listened to her when she told him to go and fight, and that she would be waiting for him when it was over. Then she passed away that same night while he was in the ring. He probably could continue to box for another ten years, since he was in perfect shape, and healthy. But he’d made Flo a promise, and he intended to keep it. And besides, there was their daughter Lizzy to think about. He was all she had now. God had blessed him to meet Bernice at a local function. He never thought he would love again, but he did love her. And Lizzy would adjust to her eventually, he told himself. Lizzy was a child hard to win over. But she needed a mother, and Bernice he thought would be a good one. He slowly walked to his car thinking about the Pg 3 changes in his life as the result of Flo’s death. His mind was so wrapped up in his thoughts, that he almost didn’t see the clumped figure ahead, laying in the alley. He immediately knew it was a body. But, was it dead, or alive, he wasn’t sure. He quickly shoved his gym bag in the backseat of his jaguar and walk swiftly towards the figure. Removing the wet box covering away, resulting from the rain earlier that evening, his eyes widen, it was a woman. She didn’t look more than twenty eight or so, he was never good in judging a woman’s age. Her long brown wet hair was over her face. As he brushed it back, he could see her beauty. He quickly felt for a pulse. It was faint, but there. She was still alive. Quickly he gathered her up into his arms, suddenly realizing she was nearly naked, wearing only a man's shirt which was completely soaked through. As he rushed to his car, with her in his arms, he wondered if he gotten to her in time. There was a hospital a few blocks away, he would take her there...only time would tell. Solomon wasn’t sure how long he waited in the emergency room but it had to be over an hour. Every time he tried to stop a nurse or doctor for information on the woman, they simply shook their heads, and rushed by him. Finally taking a seat he flipped open his cell and called Bernice. Pg 4 She would be waiting at home with Lizzy. He glanced at his watch. He was over two hours late for dinner. Bernice said she had some important news to tell him about her job at the school. He frowned. He hoped Lizzy wasn’t acting up and, causing Bernice any trouble. He couldn’t understand why Lizzy didn’t take to her. He fumbled in his pocket. The small box was still there containing the ring he wanted to give to Bernice tonight, and ask her to be his wife. They had been dating a year now. But Lizzy still remained the biggest gap between them. Lizzy was only six, and always was friendly to everyone. Bernice thought she needed a switch sometimes, but he and his first wife never whipped her and he wasn’t about to start now. He had family in Detroit and Bernice suggested he send her there to live. But that in his mind wasn’t an option either, and never would be. She was his child and she belonged with him. He’d always been able to talk to Lizzy. He’d take her aside tonight after Bernice said “Yes” and explain things about Bernice being her new mother. “Bernice, he said happily hearing her voice on the other end. He slowly explained the events of the evening, and about the woman he’d found in the alley. Pg 5 “Oh Solomon, when will you stop being a do gooder, that girl is not your responsibility now. You got her to the hospital, now leave it at that and come home” He lowered the phone from his ear, then lifted it up to it again. “I couldn’t just leave her there could I Bernice?” “Yes you could, came the quick reply. Why do you do things like that...you could get hurt. She rambled on. You don’t know what that girl is involved in. Might be a gangster girl, or even worst.” Solomon shook his head. At times it was hard to believe she was a church going woman. “I’ll be home soon. Tell Lizzy, okay?” He waited for a reply but there wasn’t any. he glanced at his phone. The connection had ended….Bernice was gone. “Are you the person who brought the woman into emergency?” Solomon looked up into the face of a young doctor. “Yes, he said quickly standing up. Is she going to be okay?” “Yes, but she’s going to be sore for a while. Some broken ribs, cuts and bruises, a black eye, and a cut lip. If she’d out there to much longer Pg 6 she … well, enough said. He patted Solomon's shoulder. You got her here just in time. We’d like to keep her over night, just for observation. You can pick her up tomorrow. I’ll prescribe meds for the pain.” “Can I see her?” “Sure, the doctor replied, room twelve straight ahead. She’s sleeping...but you can look in, but no talking, okay?” Solomon nodded as he watched him walk away. He knew all about feeling sore, and bruised from boxing, and he sympathized, but getting hurt was a part of a boxers world, but as he stood peering in the room at the beautiful brown haired woman laying in the bed with a swollen lip, black eye, and bandages, he knew no woman deserved a beating like that, ever. Solomon rushed home. Bernice was standing in the door when he drove up. He could tell by the expression on her face that things had not gone well with Lizzy. “Daddy,” Lizzy rushed to him with her eyes filled with tears. “What’s wrong honey? He picked her up in his arms, brushing her tears away. Bernice quickly pulled her out of his arms. Pg 7 “There’s nothing wrong with this child, she blurted anger. She’s just a manipulator that's all. When ever she can’t get her way she goes crying to daddy.” She ushered Lizzy into the house with a push. Solomon closed the door behind him, then stood looking at Bernice. She was beautiful, fashionable, a good cook, a church goer, and he did love her. But Lizzy was his child, and no one was going to treat her like Bernice just did. If this was an example of how life would be for Lizzy, he wasn’t going to have it. His hand brushed against his pocket, and he remembered the engagement ring he had there. He felt the anger fill up inside of him as their eyes met. Bernice saw it too. “Oh Solomon, forgive me, I was just so worried about you. You could of gotten hurt tonight. She wiped a tear from her eye that had fallen. If I lost you, I don’t know what I’d do. I love you Solomon. She quickly threw her arms around his neck, and started kissing him. Then she rushed to Lizzy, giving her a hug. I’m sorry Lizzy, so sorry, please forgive me. She looked into Lizzy’s eyes that still held tears. You’re my family.” Pg 8 Solomon watched waiting for Lizzy’s response. She hugged Bernice. “I forgive you, she said sincerely, then hugged Bernice back. Solomon smiled too, knowing that being quick to forgive was something his mother had always taught him, and what he and Flo, his first wife had taught Lizzy. But, tonight would not be a night for an engagement dinner or ring, he would hold on to the ring until later. The rest of the evening went off well. Even Lizzy seemed to be getting along with Bernice, which brought a comfort to Solomon’s mind. If they were going to be a family, it was crucial that Lizzy would accept Bernice as her step mother. It was good to lay down and think about a future with Bernice. He had finally gotten Lizzy to sleep, after reading a bedtime story. Now it was his turn. He had gotten use to sleeping alone, but soon he wouldn’t have to. Bernice would be sleeping next to him as his wife. He smiled at the thought. He welcome the thought of that. It had been a while since he’d loved a woman, but Lizzy’s needs came first before his own desires. He couldn’t just think of himself now, he’d seen to many who had done that, and the end results were unhappy, and rebellious children, and in the end a broken marriage. No, Lizzy first, me Pg 9 second, he thought, as sleep filled his eyes. That’s the way it should be...the way it had to be. It seemed like only moments since he’d closed his eyes, but it was now morning and Lizzy, his personal alarm clock was pulling gently at his eye. “Are you awake daddy, she said looking down at him smiling. Can we have happy pancakes today. Happy pancakes daddy she said jumping up and down. Please daddy?” Solomon eased up slowly in the bed, and opened his arms to her, giving her a big hug. “Okay, happy pancakes it is.” He watched his daughter leave the room skipping with joy, fully dressed in a sweatshirt and jeans. She was growing up so fast. He didn’t have to dress her anymore, just lay out her clothes the night before and Lizzy did the rest. As he headed to the shower., he remembered the way his life use to before everything changed, and Flo died. He had forced himself to go on, It wasn’t all about him anymore. It was all about Lizzy. He smiled. Happy pancakes were her favorite. It was something her mother often made on the weekends. Pancakes with chocolate chip eyes, a nose, and chocolate chips for the mouth, that always resembled a smile. As he showered, he wondered about the woman in the hospital. She Pg 10 would be released today. He had to go see her, he just had to, even if Bernice didn’t like it. There was a benefit of being the boss of your own business, you could take off whenever you desired to. Today he desired to. Solomon’s Gym was doing well and offered aspiring fighters a great atmosphere to train. And he had managers and staff that worked with him faithfully. He now had ten gyms that brought in a good profit in the Dallas Texas area, and was about to open two more in Austin. Boxing had been his dream as a young man, and God had blessed him richly, now he wanted to foster the dreams of other young boxers, and offer the best training possible for them to reach their goals. He didn’t have to work anymore, but he still did. He had invested well, so that Lizzy would have funds when she grew to collage age, of whatever she decided to do after her high school graduation. He had a nice home, car, a housekeeper, attended church regularly. Lizzy also had a nanny, who took her to school and picked her up at the end of the day, and fixed her meals during the week. But weekends were his special times with his daughter. He based his office in Dallas, and often travel for business reasons, but always, made sure he was home, when Lizzy came from Pg 11 school everyday. Yes, he smiled to himself. God had definitely been good to him, and he wanted to give back, by helping foster other boxers dreams, by opening his gyms to train those who really wanted to advance it the sport. He never turned anyone away for lack of funds. He enjoyed watching the young boys train. He had boxed for over ten years, and had the championship belts to proven it. He retired as heavy weight champion in his division.. But now, that was in the pass. Bernice, and Lizzy were his future now. Bernice, he looked down at Lizzy smiling as she walked along with him towards the hospital entrance. He intended to leave Lizzy with her, but Bernice had some sort of a social function today, so he could do nothing else, but take Lizzy with him, to the hospital, since her nanny didn’t work weekends. She was growing so fast. She was six now, in school, and he had to secure her future. “Daddy,” Lizzy’s voice broke his train of thought’ “Yes honey,” he smiled down at her. “Can I see the lady too?” She looked up at him with questioning eyes. Solomon knew she had probably heard his conversation on the phone, when he called from the emergency room, to Pg 12 explain to Bernice why he would be late for dinner. “Yes, we’re both going to see the lady.” he squeezed her hand affectionately, as they walked through the automatic doors. Lizzy laughed as the doors opened, calling it magic. Solomon laughed too, as he swept her up into his arms, and they walked down the hall to the elevators, that would take them to the emergency department. He would definitely have to have a talk with Bernice later, about being so vocal around small listening ears. It was a relief when he was told that children weren’t allowed in emergency. He had struggled as to how to explain the cuts, and bruises, she was about to see on the woman. Lizzy looked sad, but then her face turned into a smile, when the nurse said their was a room especially made for children where she could play with toys, color, listen to a story, and play with other kids. With a wave of her hand, she happily followed the nurse away. The woman was sitting up when he walked into the room. He could see the swelling that was now appearing on her face, eyes, and lips. There was a breakfast tray pushed away from her bed. That was a god sign, he thought as he Pg 13 approached. She was eating. She definitely needed nourishment now. She looked up at him, and smiled slightly. It had to hurt, oh how he remembered trying to smile and kiss his wife after a fight when his lips and eyes were so swollen. “Hello Solomon.” Her voice was a bit timid, but she was a beauty still, even with all the bandages. Solomon studied her closely. How did she know his name. She was out cold when he brought her to the hospital. “You don’t remember me, do you?” She eased up slightly in the bed, her long brown hair falling around her shoulders. Solomon walked closer. “No, I’m afraid I don’t.” He pulled up a chair beside her bed, and sat down. She smiled again, then frowned. “I’d suggest you don’t try to smile for awhile,” he said sympathetically. She nodded. “So, where have we met,? he eyed her closely. “I use to pester you all the time for a ride in you wagon, when I was eight years old, and always say, one day I was going to marry you when I grew up. Remember?” She looked up into is Pg 14 eyes, and couldn’t help but smile again, regardless of the pain. Solomon stood up quickly. “Marissa, he walked closer. Marissa Hill. Is it really you?” She nodded, tears running down her cheeks. “Its been a long time Solomon.” He gently leaned down, placing a tender kiss on her cheek, as they just looked at each other. “Girl, last time I saw you was the day your folks moved away and you came over and kissed me dead on the lips.” Marissa nodded. “Do you remember what happened next Solomon, she asked.” “Sure do. He sat down again. “I told you to stop kissing me, and to take that remark back, then I was about to hit you when your dad grabbed me by the back of my pants, and gave me a licking. Back then a community helped raise kids, not just their parents. He told me that a boy never hits a girl, ever. Solomon shook his head. I never forgot those words. He looked intently at her. “Gosh girl you’re beautiful. A long way from pigtails and glasses. Marissa smiled again, followed by a deep sigh of pain. Pg 15 “You look great too, more handsome,” she managed to mutter. “Hey, sorry, didn’t intend to make you do that again. “How is you dad anyway. Your folks still In Detroit?” Solomon noticed a sadness fill her eyes. “Folks still there, but haven’t seen them for awhile. Sometimes things happen. She fumbled with her hands, then looked away. Different views, opinions.” She turned her eyes back to Solomon. “Sorry about your wife’s passing.” Solomon hung his head down slightly, before answering. “Me too. Then he looked up at her. Flo was a good woman. “I followed your life Solomon, your marriage, your boxing career. She smiled warmly. You’ve made a great life for yourself and your daughter. Her name’s Lizzy, if I remember correctly.” Solomon smiled happily. “You really have done your homework on me haven’t you Marissa.” He suddenly saw what seemed to be a look of fear cross her face. As if she’d done something wrong. Pg 16 “Hey, I’m happy you did. I’m not upset at all. It will give me a chance to catch up with you, and for you to meet my daughter Lizzy. They had talked about everything, but avoided what he really wanted to talk about. “Okay, he said finally. Looking directly at her. I’ve enjoyed our walk down memory lane, but now I want some answers. What happened, who beat you up?” He waited, but she didn’t answer. She moved her eyes away from his direct gaze to the hall outside, then started to cry heavily. She was staring at something, or someone, and shaking like a leaf. He turned. There was activity going on with someone, and he could see security guards grabbing at a fellow who was trying to enter a room. It was her room. “Marissa, the guy yelled at the top of his voice.....you’d better get yourself out here now, or you’ll know what I’ll do to you later.” Solomon stood up quickly to see a tall, lanky guy dressed in an army jacket, tee shirt, and jeans, flinging his arms over his head struggling to get loose from the guards who were trying to restrain him. \ “Is that the guy?” He turned, asking Marissa, feeling the heat of anger rise inside him. Is he the one who beat you Marissa, he asked again” Pg 17 Solomon's waited but got no answer then he headed towards the door. “Please don't hurt Rick, Solomon, I love him, please don't hurt him. He didn’t mean it, it’s all my fault, I say things that upset him, it’s all my fault.” She collapsed back onto the bed. He stopped, turned, and walked swiftly back to her. “Okay, he said, just relax, take it easy on those ribs. I won’t say anything to him for now.” He sat down beside her again, as he watched three security guards lead the guy away. He’d let it go for now. She was to weak for anymore excitement. But, there would be a time to deal with Rick, and he would deal with him, for sure. Solomon looked down at her. Was this for real. Had he actually watched her try to go to him. A man who had beat her, and left her for dead. He had no understanding of that at all. He had heard that “love was blind,” but this was ridiculous. But, as he looked into her tear filled eyes he knew it was real, at least for her. Somehow, this guy had convinced her, that all that was wrong in their relationship was her doing, thus keeping her feeling guilty, and tied to him. Making her believe that no one could love her, but him. Well, he swallowed hard, that was Pg 18 all about to change. He was there now, and would be, for as long as she needed him. Lizzy was overjoyed when he helped Marissa into the car. Solomon had never seen Lizzy look at anyone like that, since her mother died. She leaned over the front seat, looking at her. Her little eyes wide with surprise, and a face full of questions about the strange lady. Questions he knew he would have to answer later for her, as well as for Bernice. “Lizzy, this is Marissa, he said softly, in a whisper, seeing Marissa was almost sleep. She’s a good friend of mine. She’ll be staying with us for awhile.” “She’s pretty,” Lizzy said leaning over the seat. “Yes, she is,” Solomon he replied., as he motioned for Lizzy to turn around, sit down, and fasten her seat belt. As they headed home, he glanced up into the mirror, he could see that she was definitely asleep now stretched out on the back seat, with the blankets he’d placed under her head. The hospital gift shop was a God sent. The clothes weren't her exact size, but fit well enough to go out in public. Rest was what she needed now to heal, and he would see to it that she got it. He would pick up some of her things later from her apartment himself, once she gave him her address. He figured Rick would Pg 19 probably be there waiting for her. And that’s exactly where he wanted him to be. By the time they reached home, Solomon had explained to Lizzy, but didn’t go into the real details as to why she was in the hospital. He didn’t want to lie to her. Just saying that she was his friend, who was hurt, and that God wanted him to help her. Lizzy seemed to accept that explanation, since he and Flo had always taught her to help people. As he reached the house, he knew that Bernice wasn’t going to be as easy as Lizzy. He loved her, but at times he just didn’t understand her. They went to the same church, listened to the same sermons that taught about Gods love and mercy, yet at times, she could be so cold to people when they needed help. He shook his head as they pulled up. He could see a note taped on the door. Helping Marissa from the car, and up the front steps, with Lizzy close beside him he reached for it. He would read it later. He recognized Bernice's hand writing, and just shoved it in his pocket. He had enough to handle at the moment, Bernice would have to wait. Tonight would be their night. He would take her to a nice elegant restaurant, then later a carriage ride through Dallas, get down on one knee, and ask her to be his wife. Once she accepted, he hoped she would Pg 20 understand why he had to help his friend Marissa, by bringing her home with him. Bernice definitely was beautiful, he watched her walked to his car in a slender red form fitting dress, matching heels, with her long black hair falling loosely on her shoulders. He felt his heart race at the sight of her, and knowing she would be his wife soon, made him happy. Sex before marriage had been an obstacle they had disagreed on numerous times. Bernice had been involved sexually with a man before him. So she naturally expected it to be the same with him. Oh, he wanted her, but in his heart he knew he had been raised to be a christian man of honor. He wanted to be a good father, and example for his daughter. Having Bernice in his bed, and not be his wife wasn’t something he wanted Lizzy to see. Bernice smiled as she got in next to him, leaned over and gave him a kiss on the cheek, then rested her head on his shoulder as he drove off. She looked happy, happier than he ever seen her. It was almost as if she knew that tonight was going to be a special night for the both of them, and dressed for the occasion. The Grill On The Alley was a great place to dine in Dallas. He had often taken business partners there for lunch. Great food, Pg 21 atmosphere, and a perfect place to pop the question, in a private room just for themselves. “How long have we been seeing each other Bernice, he asked, looking across the table at her as the moonlight reflected even more of her beauty. “Why Solomon, she smiled. You know it’s been a year,, but it feels like just yesterday that I looked across the table at the church potluck and saw you staring at me.” She giggled, then looked at him, with questioning eyes, continuing to eat her lobster salad. Solomon slowly got up, then walked by her chair, getting down on one knee, as he reached into his pocket pulling out the box that was there. He held it out to her. He could see the happiness on her face, and in her eyes. “Will you marry me Bernice, he said as he opened the tiny box, showing her what was inside. Bernice jumped up from the table. There was fire in her eyes. “Is this a joke Solomon Davis, she asked. Bringing me an empty box.?” Solomon quickly looked inside. Bernice was right, there was no ring, where was it? He had it earlier that morning on the table by his bed. Pg 22 Everyone was beginning to look into the room where they were, as he tried to give some explanation, but Bernice wasn’t listening. When he tried to grab her hand, to keep her from leaving, as he tried to explain that he had probably left it on the dresser that morning, when he was looking at it. She twirled around slapping him hard across the face. Solomon could hear all the oh’s and awe’s of the onlookers, just like he heard them when he was in the ring boxing, and received a hard blow. “I don’t know why I expected anything more, Bernice shouted at him, as she threw her napkin, and a glass of red wine in his face. “You are just a waste of my time Solomon, an easy mark, you have to help everyone.” Solomon stood frozen. What had just happened. He watched her rush out of the room, through the restaurant, and to a waiting taxi on the curb. Everyone was still looking, but their faces showed sadness for what had just happened to him. He sat silent, alone at the table. Slowly he tried to understand it all. The missing ring, Bernice’s reaction, and her saying he was just a waste of her time, a do gooder, who had to help everyone. Exactly what did she mean by that, he questioned. Paying the bill he walked out of the Pg 23 restaurant, his suit stained with red wine, and knowing everyone’s conversation tonight, would be about him, and headed home. It wasn’t just the ring she was upset about, it was everything in his life. She’d held it all in until now. Now he knew her true feeling about his mission in life, and she liked none of it, including his daughter Lizzy. It it was up to her, she’d send Lizzy away, and change him to be what she wanted him to be. Bernice wasn’t the woman he thought she was, and she definitely wasn’t the woman for him. He loved her, but he’d get over it. He’d been alone before, and it wasn’t so bad, as long as he had his daughter. Her happiness came before his. The lights in his house were off when he drove into the driveway. It was still hard for him to believe what had happened with Bernice. He was glad Lizzy was asleep, and assumed Marissa was too. He didn’t want to answer any questions, just be alone, and turn it all over again in his mind, and find that ring. The jeweler had said if the lady wasn’t pleased, he could return it for another style. He didn’t need another style, just needed that ten thousand dollars taken off his credit card. Putting his key in the lock, he opened the door quietly, tipped in and walked to the sofa and sat down. Pg 24 Suddenly, his senses, still sharp as ever, told him that he was not alone. He looked up. There stood Marissa holding a cup of hot chocolate in her hands. And, he saw something else that totally shocked him completely. On her third finger, left hand was the ring he had bought for Bernice. “Marissa, he said surprised, what are you doing out of bed, and where did you get that ring?” He reached over lifting her hand to his shocked eyes. She backed away quickly. He could see that his tone was a bit scary to her. After all she had been through, he completely understood. “He calmed himself down and walked closer to her. “I didn’t mean to sound harsh, but where did you get it, he asked again, his eyes looking into hers. “Lizzy gave it to me tonight, she replied in a shaky voice, Lizzy said it was a toy ring, and maybe it would make me smile, and not cry so much. What did I do wrong Solomon, I’m always doing, or saying something wrong...Rick is right...I do nothing but mess up other peoples lives.” She started to cry, then collapsed down onto the sofa. Solomon rushed to her and sat down beside her. Pg 25 “You didn’t do anything wrong Marissa, he said taking her hand in his. He started to laugh softly. The whole situation was beginning to seem funny to him now in retrospect. Marissa looked at him. “Why are you laughing, she questioned, looking confused. Tonight, I asked Bernice to marry me.” “Oh, that’s wonderful Solomon, Marissa began to smile. So you two are getting married, when?” She searched his face, waiting for an answer. Solomon shook his head. “Not exactly. He leaned back against the sofa cushion. Took her to a great restaurant, The Grill On The Alley, ordered a gourmet lobster dinner, red wine, then got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. I opened the box for her to see the beautiful ten thousand dollar diamond inside, but the box was empty. Bernice kicked a stink in the restaurant, and to just cut to the chase, she walked out, but not before she threw red wine on me, and slapped me hard in front of everyone, then preceded to telling me how she really felt about me.” Marissa looked surprised. “But, Where, what happened to the ring?” Solomon sat up, reached over lifting her hand up, as he pointed to the ring on her finger. Pg 26 He could see the look of horror on Marissa’s face’ “Oh, she gulped, no, looking at the ring on her finger. I didn’t know Solomon, here.” She made an attempt to pull it off, but it didn’t budge. The more she twisted it, the tighter it felt on her finger. “Stop, stop, he said, gently grabbing her hand. Your fingers are swollen, once the selling goes down it’ll come off easily. At least I know where it is now” he laughed softly “I’ve made such a mess of everything, I’m so sorry.” She looked up into his eyes. Solomon smiled warmly. Marissa was definitely beautiful on the eyes, but more so she had a good heart, and his daughter had bonded with her. “Nothing that has happened is your fault Marissa.” He patted the sofa cushion for her to move closer to him. “Can you talk to her, maybe....” Solomon shook his head again, as he pulled her close. She wants me to send Lizzy away. Can’t, and won’t do that.” Marissa frowned. “Lizzy’s a wonderful child, who wouldn’t love her. You’ll find the right woman one day Solomon, she said snuggling closer to him, and she’ll become your bride. She voice became soft, Pg 27 as she began to drift off to sleep. Solomon’s Bride, she mumbled, that sounds nice.” Yes, it did sound nice he thought, as he looked down at the woman now in his arms, and felt the warmth of her body against his. The woman who wanted to marry him when she was eight years old. They both had some obstacles to get through, still, but Bernice was behind him now. God had kept him from a big mistake, and God would keep Marissa from making a big mistake too, with Rick. He knew beyond any doubt, that Marissa was who he wanted in his, and Lizzy’s life. Marissa would come to realize that in time, just by him being there for her. They were meant to be together. And one day he would get down on one knee, and ask her that all important question.... to be Solomon’s Bride. The End This song says it well. We all bleed, hurt, and think the hurt will never pass, but like the song says "It all gets better with time" https://youtu.be/qSxyffSB7wA

The Purpose Of Dreams? Inspiration For You!

What's my dream... Well I have always dreamed of being a writer, and having people read my work and enjoy it.  Today my dream is coming true, but later in life than I expected.  I always dreamed of being a young writer, traveling across the USA promoting my book, but life threw me some curves in the way of cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and taking care of a disabled sister most of the time while working full time just to make ends meet.  Don't get me wrong I would never have changed anything...God showed me his power through all I went through, and taught me that Dreams never die if we keep believing in him & ourselves.  Growing older doesn't kill our dreams,,,we do that ourselves when we give up... I have learned to never give up....it's not an option for me...don't let it be for you either...keep dreaming ! Pastor  Janet Fears The purpose of dreams What are the purpose of dreams...dreams are instilled in every person by God.   Life would be at a stand still if we didn't have dreams...the world is built by people who had dreams and worked to see them come true.  Dreams keep us going, they make us want to survive.  God had a dream...he wanted a world with people who would love and worship him.  His dream brought into existence the universe as we have it now...but society has fallen far short of Gods dream, but he didn't stop dreaming.  He had another dream of how to put the universe back into his original plan for mankind...that dream was Jesus.  God has never stopped dreaming... neither can we until we see our dreams come true.  Without dreams there would be nothing to hope for... so what ever your dream... however far out of reach it may seem... never give up... you & God can make it happen.  Never let others stomp on your dreams, and make you feel it is impossible to be reached.  Keep dreaming, and working towards your dream... that's what God wants you to do, then trust him to do the rest... he's more than able! So What's Your Dream?  I waiting to hear all about it! Dream Stealers What are the purpose of dreams...dreams are instilled in every person by God.   Life would be at a stand still if we didn't have dreams...the world is built by people who had dreams and worked to see them come true.  Dreams keep us going, they make us want to survive.  God had a dream...he wanted a world with people who would love and worship him.  His dream brought into existance the universe as we have it now...but society has fallen far short of Gods dream, but he didn't stop dreaming. Keep dreaming, and working towards your dream... that's what God wants you to do, then trust him to do the rest... he's more than able ! So What's Your Dream?  Is it writing? Then write. Whatever it is, don't ever give up on your dream!

Michael Bublé - Home (Lyrics)

When I hear music it foster's my writing. This song makes me think of my story "Her Hearts New Home" the story I put on here today. Had to share it because it's what Alexandra was probably feeling as she left Budapest for America, a foreign country is search of her love. knowing she would never return to Budapest again. She so deeply want to go home to but all that made it home for her were gone forever! Music can have a great affect on our writing and show emotion others can feel, and often relate too.

Romance 4 You Today!

Well, I'm taking a break and doing something I really love to do, writing romantic stories. A complete romantic story, right here on my blog., for the next three days. Its my way of relaxing during all this virus stuff. I would so love to write for other publishers one day for TV, Movies etc! So read and enjoy this little love story below. This is not the size printed size of the story its in regular print size 14 on Amazon & Kindle, its small here just for this site purposes. “Her hearts new Home” Alexandra Bocharova had heard many stories about America, how people changed, forgetting their families and their friends once they got off the boats. She knew first hand how true this was. Alexei had promised he would send for her, once he was established....but he never did. She looked out over the waves. The captain said by tomorrow they would be in New York. It was where Alexei was. A tear trickled down her delicate cheek. She was all alone now. It had taken all her strength and courage to come to America. Budapest was the only home she'd ever known, and she loved it. But with the death of her parents and the small estate that was left to her, she knew what she had to do. Alexei had made a vow of marriage to her, and she was going to make sure he kept that vow. She felt strange as the ship docked that morning. She watched passengers as they left the boat and rushed into the arms of their love ones. She could almost feel the warmth of the kisses they were exchanging, as they hugged and smiled, then rushed off together to their private destinations She felt a slight fear overtake her as she walked from the boat. She had been warned by others in her country about the gangsters and hoodlums in America, and how they preyed on young women who were all alone. That was the reason she chose to hide her looks under mens clothing. Her long black curly hair was fixed tightly under a cap she had kept from Alexei when they were together. She pulled at the trousers that were beginning to fall off her hips. They were her fathers and she wanted to keep something of his to remember him by. Her slim delicate fingers caressed the locket that was around her neck. Tears began to fill her eyes as she thought about the birthday party when her mother gave the locket to her. Everyone was gone now. All she had was Alexei. Although her accent was noticeable she spoke English well because it was one of the languages that was required of all students in her high school before the could graduate. To be in a foreign country and have no knowledge of the language would be the worst fear of all. She noticed a yellow car not far from where she stood. The strange man seemed to be waving at her. Reluctantly she waved back....she didn't want to seem unfriendly. She tried to ignore him, but he kept waving. Slowly she towards the yellow car. She could see that the man was quite handsome. He was tall with wavy brown hair, wearing black pants . She almost laughed as they seemed to be to big too like hers were. He had on a gray suit coat and his shoes had holes large enough to fit a coin in on the toe. Was he one of the gangsters she had been warned about. She backed away as he came closer. She noticed his brown eyes...they didn't seem threatening to her. Suddenly he reached down causing her to jump back as he reached and scooped up all her bags and put them in the trunk of the yellow car, as she stood mesmerized. What was he doing she wondered. There was no way she was going to let him take all the possessions she had in the world. She rushed at him, kicking him and screaming at the same time. “Give them back,” she yelled as her foot caught the side of his jaw. Her self-defense class was turning out to be quite useful after all. “Ouch,” he moaned cupping his jaw with one hand, as his other hand held her firmly. As hard as she struggled, there was no escape. She scolded herself for not paying more attention in defense class...maybe if she had, instead of talking with Gina she would be able to get herself free from his grip...but she could not! She could feel the hot breath from his nostrils, and see the fire in his brown eyes. Suddenly his grip loosened and she fell back to the ground forcing the hat from her head. With her secret out, she scrambled to her feet quickly, fist ready to fight as he advanced towards her. “Oh my God, his hands grabbed her by the shoulders forcing her to look at him. “Your a girl, he said with a chuckle...and a pretty one at that.” “I'm not a girl...she yelled back at him...I'm a full grown woman....Let go of me you American gangster if you don't let go of me, I'm going to kick you somewhere bad.” She lowered her eyes passed his stomach. He released his grip. “I'm not a gangster, he said scratching his head in confusion. And this is a cab...do you know what a cab is..or what it does?” She backed away as she shook her head. “No...what is cab?” He walked back to his cab, taking all her luggage out . Then walked back and dumped them all at her feet. “Cabs give rides young lady..or excuse me...I forgot...you're a woman right?...cabs take people to where they want to go.” Then she watched him as he walked away. He got into his cab and started the engine. She quickly realized that she had made a mistake. She needed to get to Alexei. She reached into her pocket, pulling the letter out that had the address she need to get to. “Wait,” she yelled. But the car was moving...not listening to her. There was only one thing she could do. So she threw herself in front of it, hiding her face in her hands waiting for the impact! She heard the brakes as they came to a screeching halt, and then she heard feet running swiftly towards her, and stop. “Are you crazy...I almost hit you, he said in almost a whisper.” “Is she dead daddy?” The small voice was on the edge of tears. Alexandra removed her hands from her eyes, and looked up into the face of a young child. “No honey, the lady was just playing a game...a silly game that's all.” Alexandra got to her feet quickly. “Yes it was just a game...I'm fine.” Alexandra could see his eyes glaring at her. The child smiled and wiped away the tears as she ran to her, hugging her tightly around the neck. Alexandra was surprised...no one had hugged her since she came to America and it felt good and brought tears to her eyes.. The child looked to be about six or seven, with dark curly hair in braids and with a dark complexion like the man driving the cab, and wore thick glasses. Her heart went out to her for scaring her . She herself remembered how it felt to be afraid when her father left and went off to war in Budapest. “I 'm sorry I frightened you, she said softly, really I am. Children should never be frightened.” She turned away not wanting them to see the tears that were starting to fill her eyes. “Could you please take me to this place. She shoved the letter with Alexei's address on it into the cabbie's hand. Please?” He was silent for a long moment, then walked over , picked up her bags again and put them in the trunk, still not saying a word. She got in quickly and sat beside the child, as he started the engine once more to take her to Alexei....it was where she belonged. Finally the cab came to a stop. “This is it, he said turning and looking at her. The address on the letter...this is the place.” He pointed to a tall brown brick building in front of them. All Alexandra could see were windows, many windows, some with flowers in them, them while others were plain looking. She opened the door and got out. She wondered what Alexei would think of her coming to America with out waiting for him to send for her as he said. Her steps were slow as she approached the building. She took the steps one at a time as her mind wandered to seeing Alexei again...kissing his lips...touching his face...and the feel of is arms around her once more. She was just about to turn the knob on the door when it opened. A man and a very pregnant woman stepped out. It was Alexei. He pushed by her, his arm around the woman. Alexandra noticed her beauty. Her long brown hair and eyes, and how happy she was as she smiled at her as they passed. She wore find clothes like the one's in the magazines she looked through while on the boat. Clothes she fantasized wearing for Alexei. She watched as Alexei pulled the woman close and kissed her a long time, then they went happily down the stairs laughing. He never once looking in her direction. He never had any intentions of ever sending for her, why should he when he had someone else. Her heart sank as the tears began to flow and she collapsed on the steps. “Hey, we'll have none of this.” The voice of the cab driver was familiar to her now. She thought he had left, but there he stood. She hadn't noticed how really handsome he was, as he sat down on the steps beside her. “Was that your young man?” Alexandra straightened herself up, and brushed the tears from her eyes “ Yes, that was Alexei. But I don't need him, she looked up into the cabbie's eyes, brushing away more tears that had fallen. I strong woman. I make it on my own.” His eyes searched hers. “Yes, I think you will,” He helped her up from the step. I'm Angelo Gallivant. He extended his hand to her. I'm really not cab driver at all...I just moonlight once in a while when I'm bored. I actually just doing this to help out a sick friend. I'm a banker.” “What is moonlight?''she asked as they walked back to the cab that was now parked at the front of the building. He smiled as he opened the cab door and she got in. “I'll explain it to you later. Where to now?” he leaned down beside the cab door. Alexandra shook her head sadly. I have no one now...no place to go, so I go back to boat...maybe they let me work for boat. “No going back to the boat, she said. He looked at her. You'll come home with us until we figure something out.” He reached over and squeezed her hand. “You can trust me...I'm no gangster.” He smiled at her. Alexandra smiled back knowing he was making funny joke. Then he closed the door and went back and got behind the wheel again. Could she trust this handsome stranger...for some reason her heart said she could. “I've been looking for a nanny for my daughter Gina. I pay well and you could keep it as long as you like...or until you decide to move on. You'd live on my estate, have your own private room and furnished meals.” Alexandra looked at him confused... .”What is nanny?” He laughed again...but Alexandra knew he wasn't making fun of her. “That's another thing I'll have to explain too.” He shook his head, then continued to drive. She thought a few moments. She was all alone...her parents were dead..and Alexi was no longer a part of her life. “I do for you..I take nanny.” She smiled up into the mirror to him. But only for a while, then I give money back to you, okay?” He looked up into the mirror and nodded back to her. She looked over at the small child fast asleep on the seat beside her. She caressed her hair gently and eased her into her lap. She would take care of her...be a good nanny...what ever that meant, and tell Gina all about her homeland Budapest . A homeland she would never forget. But she knew whatever the future held for her, she would survive and make America her hearts new home! The End ( More Stories To Come!)

A Poem For Humanity!

A Poem I wrote to reflect on how we are often less observant than we should be to the people around us, who may be hurting. Reflect on this today as you walk through your world, and see through the eyes of LOVE!! Faces In this world, so many places, filled with so many faces. Passing daily on the street, they never touch, they never meet. They all have secrets that they hide, to keep the world outside. Afraid to trust enough to share, and still, they want someone to care. They brush a shoulder, share a smile, as they walk another mile. Never letting others know, how much their need has grown. Their just a person on the street, you never touch, you never meet. Each day to them is like before, and they look for nothing more. Their just a face that's in a crowd, that's shouting to you, oh so loud, can you hear me?"

The Importance Of Visualization For A Writer

As a writer we all want our reader to really become a part of the story we are writing. We want them to feel the excitement, happiness, sadness, and even the hurt our characters experience. But how do you do it? That question is deeply important in your writing. Have you ever read a book that just was totally nonexciting, or didn't move you at all? Well, my writing teacher once told me, "If after you finish your work and when you go back and read it, if it doesn't move you, it won't move your readers either" The reader must connect with the characters/or characters so much that they feel like they are right there in the characters space while all this is happening to them. As a writer our stories first come to light in our minds
, The storyline, setting, and often even the exact words to get the story moving. This is called visualization. Others use it too, not just writers. It's used in advertising, and all types of businesses to sell products by catchy slogans it first starts in the minds of the developers. Builders use too, Universities use it in developing courses for their students to draw their interest to courses, so it's nothing new. A writer's mind should be a playground of visualization with all sorts of characters and storylines and dialogues running through it. As writers, we must learn to pick and choose from these visualizations and bring them into our story by connecting with our characters first, this is often done through some of your own experiences, feelings, and emotions that will push our story forward and draw your reader in. This article below will help you to understand how to do this. Its a really good read, check it out! https://writenonfictionnow.com/writers-benefit-creative-visualization/

"The Power & The Danger Of Words"

“Words are singularly the most powerful force available to humanity. We can choose to use this force constructively with words of encouragement, or destructively using words of despair. Words have energy and power with the ability to help, to heal, to hinder, to hurt, to harm, to humiliate, and to humble.” This is a very true statement. Just think about all the protests and riots today. Look at the signed held high for the world to see. read them. The words on these signs can either help humanity to make good changes or help foster riots and hatred, just by the words written on them. Our world is hurting and the words we say, write, or print on a sign can be a kindling fire or a healing balm. Words have power and that power is in our hands. We must decide how to use words. We can not blame others for the words we speak, or the destruction they can cause. We are the masters of our words, We must choose our words wisely. What we say, and how we say them, can change the structure of our world. Think about it!! Pastor Janet

A Writers Trick For Better Writing!

Every writer wants to write better, it is our goal. But why doesn't it always happen? Some things go so well and our words just flow, and then at other times, it all sounds like rubbish! It happened to all of us writers one time or another. The words we write sound so good in our head, but when we write them down, not so much. What happens between the words we hear in our head, and the words we write down? Well, while reading different articles on the web I found this one. It was very interesting, so I'm passing it along to you. Read it and discover how reading your work out loud can help you become a better writer when your thoughts and your writing come together as one! Self Publishing!

Perhaps you are seriously thinking about self-publishing. Perhaps you would love to go with a traditional publisher, but don't have the funds now. Self-publishing is great. It gives you the opportunity to see your book in print sooner than a traditional publisher and can offer you many options. Most can help you design your cover(front & back), and even more options, like promoting, marketing, & press releases at a very low price. But, what if you want to go with a traditional publisher sometime later? You might be wondering if you might get into trouble with the self-publishing site where your book is listed for sale. What do you do? You don't want to be sued. Well, here's some information that can answer that question for you. Today I did a search on the web to answer my own question on that subject. Here's the quote I copied so you can read it for yourself. "Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Google Play, Lulu, etc., are nothing more than retailers. You can even sell through your own website if you want to. The only time you cannot publish elsewhere is if you sign an exclusivity agreement with a retailer. This means you will only sell your product through that retailer for a specific period of time. (Ex.: Amazon’s KDP Select program requires at least 90-days of exclusivity. You can’t sell your book anywhere else during that period. Including your own website.)" Well, now you & I both have the answer to that question. We are the publishers of our books & can sale, or list them anywhere we want to. There's nothing to stop us now. The world is our oyster, and our books are the pearl of great price just waiting to be discovered!

A Fun Post International Novella's /Soap Opera's/ Amor Eterno!

This is just a fun blog about a Turkish Tv soap titled "Amor Eterno" I so loved watching this Novella. The actors were fantastic & very talented. There are so many in the show that I liked, and to learn about their lives off-screen was a joy. I am finding that talent is not just in one place, but in many places around the world & Turkey is one of those places. The cast, Neslilan Atagul, Burak Ozcivit, Hazil Filliz, Kaan Urgancioglu were all so great that I will never forget their acting. I will be checking out other countries for more Novella's. BRAVO to the country of Turkey, a country with great actors & actresses! Check out this little shot from youtube! https://youtu.be/avN6cHGV8K0

Words of Encouragement From A Fellow Writer

I've always strived in my blog to encourage aspiring writers, to make you keep writing when you want to stop for many reasons. When writers get discouraged they lose their focus, their drive, and start to give up on their dream to write. They start comparing themselves to other writers, many who are famous and then begin to give up. Don't do that. Never give up on your writer's dream. Here's an author with some words of inspiration to fuel your passion to never stop writing! http://jodyhedlund.blogspot.com/2011/10/encouragement-for-aspiring-writers.html
